HCL Notes/Domino/Traveler V14 – What’s new

Last week HCL released the brand new release of a great collaboration solution which is called “dead” for more than 10 years.

Of course some customer moved off the platform with their mail environment but most of them still are running HCL Domino for applications, workflows and so on because of the extremely high ROI, very fast development times for applications which can easily be adapted to new requirements inside a customer environment.

HCL delivered the new release with a bunch of new and great features for the Domino Server, the Notes Client ( which mostly is the case of the change to a new mail platform ) and also HCL Traveler. I’ll name the most important ones and will past a link to the complete overview.

HCL Domino V14

Security Features
Domino V14 includes a lot of updated versions and also new enhancements of security features like SHA256 support when storing your HTTP password inside your person document, OIDC authentication for web users, new version of OpenSSL and also improvements for the Notes Federated login. A full overview of all features can be found on the official overview at HCL.

Another great enhancement is the so called “AdminCentral app” where you can handle a lot of administrative tasks ( user registration, recertification of certificates, creation of groups ) which are used daily directly from your HCL Notes Client and also from HCL Nomad Web and Mobile.

Also the “Auto Notification Feature” for new versions and the notification for external mails inside your incoming mail are great features inside HCL Domino V14.

Another enhancement is the option to directly install HCL Verse on premises and HCL Nomad during the installation of your HCL Domino Server and the new option to automatically install the OnTime Group Calendar which is a great solution from our friends from Denmark.

When you’re running HCL Domino on Windows and you are planning to upgrade your environment then please take a look at the very helpful blog entry from the HCL Lifetime Ambassador Daniel Nashed to avoid troubles 😉

HCL Notes V14

The most interesting information for the latest HCL Notes Client is that the client only is available in a 64bit version. But like HCL promised >> at the GA of HCL Notes/Domino V14 the client as well as the language packs have been available for download !! Applause for the HCL Development team !!

Some features included in the latest version is the officially support for .msg files, a nice feature when sending mails to multiple recipients ( mail merge ), an enhancement for the DOMI feature to automatically retrieve the token e.g. for your MS Teams meeting, upgraded Java versions and a lot more.

Please take a look at the new features included in the latest HCL Notes Client here.

HCL Traveler V14

Also HCL Traveler received some new features and enhancements. Find them on the official overview.

All mentioned software can be download from the new portal which hopefully will replace FlexNet someday 😉
