Today began – beside heavy rain – with tremendous announcements of HCL in person of Richard Jefts, Barry Rosen and Chris Davis in their session

“The Beat goes on – and it goes to 11”.

A great and updated roadmap for Domino V10+ has been presented:

A lot ( I’m sure there will be more ) of the new features coming soon and what we can expect in V11 have been presented. As far I understood “Coming soon” is Q1/2019 and we’ll get the following in the next weeks:

• Re-Release of the missing Group1 languages ( german )
• Group 1 support for the Notes Basic and the ICAA client
• Fixes for the regressions in Xpages V10
• Domino App Dev Pack for Windows
• A preview of the browser-based “Verse on mobile” app
• Verse on Premises 1.0.7

We’ll also get Sametime V10 in the first half of 2019. For Sametime Limited Use ( license bundled in your Notes license ) we’ll get the following new and great features:

• Sametime Chat everywhere ( persistent chat across multiple devices )
• Simplified deployment of Sametime using Docker containers
• Chat client will be compatible with the current version 9.0.1 FP1

There have been additional announcements and I can’t remember to hear this lot of news during a 50 minute session !!

Another great news has been the announcement that you can use MarvelClient Update to upgrade any existing IBM Notes Client to V10.0.1 for free !! Thanks to panagenda for giving anyone the possibility.

So in a sum-up great features will be delivered in V11 and HCL will also increase marketing activity for pushing Domino V10+ stronger to the market via the new HCL partners.

Today was not sooo busy like yesterday but also had great informations prepared.

For the first session I attended the “The Anatomy of a Privileged Account Hack” and I was impressed about the way this can be executed. Joseph Carson explained in a very easy way how an account hack runs. It always runs in multiple phases with very different ways of getting informations and access to systems.

In this session Joseph showed a real scenario he was working on – and he also showed what was the problem of the customer in the end:

We all received a free book “Privileged Account Management” which gives very good informations how to protect yourself. There’s also a free download available here.

Afterwards a great session of Christoph Adler and Ben Menesi took place where the great new features of IBM Domino V10 have been presented like

• Extension of some limits like database size from 64gb to 256gb
• Advantages of the new ODS53
• Deletion Logging for databases
• Cluster Symmetry
• Great improvements for the regular replication
• Automatically synchronization and monitoring of the ID vault
• …

The next session was performed by Thomas Hampel and Barry Rosen where the new Domino Mobile Apps ( DMA ) has been presented. With DMAyou are able to access all of your Domino applications on the iPad. We already got the information that an additional announcement about DMA will be delivered tomorrow – I’m very excited about it…

After some meetings the last updates for Verse on Premises and also a look to 1.0.7 were delivered by Drew Birnbaum and Barry Rosen. Take a look what’s coming in the new version:

As last session Bill Malchisky shared his tremendous knowledge about “Prepping for Domino V10” where a lot of useful informations about running Domino on Docker was shared. Bill shared very helpful hints about Linux for running either Domino within or out of a Docker container.

Another great day is finished and the tiredness is increasing due the lot of informations gathering all day long. Tomorrow will be a very interesting session right in the morning where – hopefully – all planned features and extensions of Notes/Domino V11 will be announced.

The first day of my IBM Think 2019 in San Francisco passed and it was great to see all the fellows of different IBM brands, especially all the friends of the Collaboration Community ( I will not mention all of you not to forget anyone ). But especially the hugs with Sandra and Mat have to be mentioned.

Now to the content specific part: we heard a lot of news inside the IBM Champion sessions like Success Stories, new perspectives, and so on… Libby Ingrassia and her team managed the content of this very comprehensive day >> Thanks a lot to you and your team for the preparation and leading through the day.

Also the new Lifetime Champions have been announced and there are two new members of the ICS Brand in this selected group: Daniel Nashed and Richard Moy. But of course all announced deserve this award – congratulations to all of you !!

I also attended a session about IBM StoredIQ and to be honest: I’m very impressed about the possibilities of this solution. Especially IBM StoredIQ InstaScan is very interesting !! With this solution you are able to analyze your unstructured data ( on premises AND also in cloud like AWS, Box, Sharepoint, OneDrive, … ) and get a very helpful overview about possible data breaches and so on. I’ll take a closer look at this – be sure.

So I can look back on a very interesting day and I’m awaiting the Collaboration Solutions Community Day tomorrow. Stay tuned about the informations coming soon…
