Yesterday I configured an existing Domino IQ environment to use an already existing Open AI environment from the customer running on Azure. During that I was a little bit surprised because I could not see any information in the Domino Console about the external AI LLM when running a “sh ta”.
During the start of the server the following was shown in the console:
[2004072:000039-00007F233FEFD640] DominoIQTask: IQAdminServer = Yes, Server = …, ThisServer = …
[2004072:000039-00007F233FEFD640] DominoIQTask: This server is a Domino IQ server
[2004072:000039-00007F233FEFD640] DominoIQTask: Starting…
…
[2004072:000039-00007F233FEFD640] DominoIQTask : AI Server is Remote, exiting, error = No error.
[2004072:000039-00007F233FEFD640] 01/13/2026 06:04:30 PM DominoIQTask is terminating
So it seemed that the Domino IQ task was not started successfully. After some investigations I contacted the HCL Support and received a link to this technote: https://shorturl.at/DW6Ql
And also received the following information:
When using Domino IQ in remote mode, the Domino IQ task will not start, so the show task command will not output any information about Domino IQ.
Domino IQ tasks are only valid when using Domino IQ in local mode. If Domino IQ is configured in remote mode, the console will display ” DominoIQTask is terminating ” when Domino is started, but Domino IQ functionality using a remote AI server will continue to
function normally.
Also be aware to import the root and the intermediate certificate of the used remote AI into the certstore.nsf to the “Trusted Roots” otherwise you’ll receive the following error when trying to send a request to the external AI LLM:
[2027936:000144-00007F7635FBF640] 01/14/2026 10:06:07.30 AM InvokeLLM> account URL: https://…/openai/v1/chat/completions

After adding both certificates from the external AI LLM we could successfully send a request and received great results.
