One of my customers was facing serious troubles because of thousands and thousands of brute force attacks against a HCL Traveler server with the enabled option of Internet Password Lockout ( which is a great feature so far !! ) and also lockout of IP addresse. And so the users have been frequently locked out which was a great challenge for the admin team to unlock the users.
Therefore we decided to implement HCL SafeLinx in front of the HCL Traveler Server to reduce the lockouts and to provide a stable sync of the mobile devices for about 300 users.
HCL SafeLinx is doing the job pretty good and since activating the solution we do not have any lockouts of users except they forget their password 😉
One issue we have been running in >> don’t forget to put a NOTES.INI entry on the server which is configured for the LDAP(s) authentication and to add the IP address of the SafeLinx Server in the HTTP whitelist ( short description about the required steps are here ) because otherwise the IP address of the HCL SafeLinx server is completely locked out.
